  • Description

Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (abbreviated as GAPDH or less commonly as G3PDH) is an enzyme of ~37kDa that catalyzes the sixth step of glycolysis and thus serves to break down glucose for energy and carbon molecules. This gene encodes a member of the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase protein family. GAPDH is mapped to 12p13.31. The product of this gene catalyzes an important energy-yielding step in carbohydrate metabolism, the reversible oxidative phosphorylation of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate in the presence of inorganic phosphate and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD).GAPDH antibody is commonly used as a western blot loading control.

    Immunogen

Amino acids YSNRVVDLMAHMASKE were used as the immunogen for this GAPDH loading control antibody.

    Storage

After reconstitution, the GAPDH loading control antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
